Givve: Donations & Fundraising App
Back in high school, I struggled with fundraisers...
I could never compete with my friends or peers who had more friends and also bigger family networks in the area. Therefore, I always end up buying my own candy bars or stuffing a couple of dollars into my own donations box.
How might we make it easy for those who struggled with a lack of personal connections to fundraise for causes that matter?
Solutions
• Ability to share the fundraising event through online means
• Allow access for a wider audience
• Provide a way to exchange goods and money remotely

Concept
The main concept for this project was to create an app that is a blend between fundraiser and e-commerce.
Since most people learn and take action to help from word-of-mouth or social media, I assumed the user base would revolve around the fundraiser owner.
User - The Student (fundraiser owner)
Students need to reach people with money to sell their fundraising goods.
User - The Supporters (customers)
Neighbors, relatives, and family friends who want to help out but can't put down orders in person need to be able to do so paperlessly.
Competitive Analysis
GoFundMe
Pros: Able to discover fundraisers nearby & allows for sharing on social media
Cons: Inaccessible profile, therefore people are less likely to donate if the organizer cannot be verified
Patreon
Pros: A way to incentivize patrons to subscribe & fund creators in exchange for exclusive content
Cons: Weak discovery features, and therefore hard for users to discover other creators on the app, forcing patrons to only subscribe to those they already know or follow on other platforms. Limited communication system between patrons and creators, causing confusion when it comes to obtaining exclusive content.
The Business Model
Like GoFundMe and Patreon, Givve earns money by:
1) asking donors and fundraiser customers to donate to the platform, or
2) charging commission fees from event organizers/owners.
Storyboard
TLDR; Lily got a text from her brother James one afternoon with a link to support her niece's fundraising event in which they are selling chocolates and candies on Givve. That night, while Lily was chilling, she remembered the text and went on the app to order some chocolate bars to support her niece Laura.
Day ✌️ (two)
Determine the features
Including important features such as discovery, search, and access to the fundraiser organizer. Because most users learn about fundraisers through social media and personal networks, it is important to optimize spreading the word through these channels.
Below is an example of using mind-mapping to see how the features and elements can fit together.
Using Home as an origin point of a starting feature, different branches such as the states, function, and elements of the feature are added.
User Flow
Based on the scenario from the storyboard and primary task flow, a detailed user flow is created to understand how the user context and the system fit together.
Sketch Explorations
Parts that I wanted to focus on included home screen, fundraiser display, fundraising goods layout, and when/where to ask for donations to the platform.
